About A new series starts again, "The wannabe city of Zurich".

Over a year ago I used to have a small flat there that I used for spending the night when they wanted me to attend some needless meeting in some other city. Travelling from Zurich to many other cities is easier than from Lucerne. Now, the thing with Zurich is that... OK, it is a city, but it is not really a city. It's just some kind of village that got too big too quick because of too much money. So it wants to convey the atmosphere of some real metropolis like London, or Barcelona, or Berlin, or New York - you know. And they do it by using the only thing they have: money!

As one can imagine, the result of this combination of uneducated bankers, missing culture and too much money can only be a place where luxury is thought to be the key to anything. The only "discussions" are about money, business, profits. No real underground world, no sub-culture, no music scene, no real fashion, no science, no philosophy.

And so I tried to make a small series that somehow catches all that. The images will be sometimes *intentionally* very very insulting against all those attitudes of that place, and sometimes very personal too. Just the way I see that "city". I would be very glad for sincere and direct comments/discussions.

This one is a very typical scene when something is constructed - which means.. all the time! A result of the incapability of the decision makers that are not able to solve even a linear equation with a single unknown. ;-) But they have the money and they know each other very well and so they get to be "decision makers" ;-) I tried to let the image look as busy and as "industrial" as possible - perhaps as opposed to the "shining city" that Zurich tries to be.

Any comments would be very welcome.

Heeeey, more than 6000, you say? I'll have to have some vacation at your place! ;-)

I like many of the groups you mentioned very much, but in general I am more for the hard and heavy section... ;-) Gimme some staccato thunder and a whisky and here I go bopping on stage! :-D

Cheers,

Nick

And I love metal structures very much too, gustavo! Especially in Heavy Metal - you know, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy, and the like! ;-)

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, and have a nice time!

Thanks a lot for the comment, Paul! Garrish, ey? It feels acoustically exactly right though I don't know what it means - may I imagine somethink like "with much garbage" or similar?

Actually I love cities, provided of course they are real cities (which Zurich is definitely not). There are still cities even in our really honogenized world, that do have that special something of vibrating, enthousiastic, in some sense anarchistic life. There is arts, insaneley creative minds, disputing opinions, confrontations, you name it.

But in Zurich there's only money and businessmen, the intelligence of which can be measured by the bricks that their eyes throw when they look somebody talking about anything that doesn't have to do with profit.

I notice, I notice again, that I get poisonous! >:-D

This series is my small sweet vengeance upon that rich, fat, stupid holy cow named Zurich. Oh and yes, they can take that very personally! ;-)

Cheers and thanks again!

Thank you very much, Nick, for the detailed explanation of the pending series. It's an interesting observation about the lack of a soul that a city has (something not many would even notice in this hyper-homogenized world).

This shot is appropriately busy and garrish.
