Great raptor portrait, Kerry! I recommend some experimentation with sharpening techniques in your editing software or with the upload sharpening in UF. You have a nice lens giving good background bokeh but the image seems a bit soft a f/5.6. Maybe at f/8, it might also be better. You have done a great job in getting images of all that wildlife!

Thanks again Robert - this is actually only minimally cropped - He was that close. He had hit a power line and come down in a pasture with a pretty badly damaged wing... I tried to get closer to him to throw a blanket over his eyes, but his good wing got him away fast enough when he wanted to go. He was getting further and further out into the pasture and more and more stressed, so I relented. Unfortunately, I don't know how the story ended...

Very sharp image Kerry,excellent crop.Is your monitor calibrated?What I am seeing is a dull color which a small 'levels' adjustment fixes.
SanDisk Extreme III cf cards gives you free copy of Capture One,if the promotion is still effective with registration you should take.It`s one of the best 'RAW' converter.
Which software do you use?

Great shot Kerry.
Good detail, excellent DOF and wonderful clarity in the eye.
Did you consider removing the branches at the back of his neck? Might help set him further apart from the background and help him stand-out more.
