Looking thru your lovely portfolio Julie,This image is nice but the very dark areas takes away from the overall beauty[IMHO] I go against most people sometimes with my critique but in the end it is what you 'sees' in your mind. Re ps,don`t burst your brains learning it,just get a good book and master what you will need.If you uses CS,one filter that I uses on EVERY image is 'Shadow/Highlight'.You should consider a noise remover too. Take care Robbie If you have PS CS try the 'Shadow/Highlight' filter on this image.

Linda, you're not kidding about light. It was a cloudy day and almost no sunlight was getting in the conservatory. It was pretty difficult to get decent pictures that day, I will for sure go back on a sunny day. Thank you so much for the complement :) Julie.

What impresses me is the sharpness you got in the very low light Julie. Orchids are difficult to shoot at least they have been for me, but you really got some nice details and textures in this one. Nice angle in your composition too..well done! :)

I knew you would know what kind of orchid this was, I was enchanted by its beauty. I am going to confess something but please don't laugh at me, I can't stand using PS. I need to take a class on it or something because I get so frustated with it. I agree with you with the bud behind the bloom, I am going to try to darken it. Wish me luck! Thank you so much for your comment my dear friend. Have a great day!

Almost missed this one, Julie, with the muted colors and the darker background, which would have been my loss. Such a beautiful catalaya with rich reds, blues and delicate yellows. Glad to see that you resisted the common urge to boost colors up in PS to get more pop, Julie. And a unique and pleasing composition, not the straight on kind of shot seen so often. Unobtrusive background, for the most part, which reinforces the color of the blossom and puts it in a very natural setting. Presence of the three buds yet to open frames the bloom. One suggestion would be to very lightly darken the bud directly behind the bloom to make it even less visually apparent and so less draw the eye to it. Again, a very pleasing and unusual composition. Hats off to you my dear friend. Anson
