"Those two pieces of architecture used to the gates leading to Szczecin, when the city was still hidden behind its walls. Designed by the Dutch architect, Cornelius van Walrave, these two baroque gates survived many wars and other disasters to stand and look beatiful in the heart of modern Szczecin.
1. Brama Portowa (Harbour Gate, before 1945: Berliner Tor - Berlin's Gate) can be found at Brama Portowa Square, between Niepodleglosci Avenue and Zwyciestwa Square. It was built between 1714 and 1740. On the top of it you can see the sculpture of city's panorama and the god of river Odra, Viadrus."

Everything is correct, dear Wolf, best wishes, Gosia. P.S. In latin language "Odra" means "Viadrina", perhaps this name is from name of god this river - Viadrus.

A historic river ... he Oder (known in Czech and Polish as Odra) is a river in Central Europe. It begins in the Czech Republic and flows through western Poland, later forming the northern 187 km of the border between Poland and Germany, part of the Oder-Neisse line. The river ultimately flows into the Szczecin Lagoon north of Szczecin and then into three branches (Dziwna, Swina and Peene) that empty into the Baltic Sea.

Serdecznosci... Stanislaw.
