About Zebras are odd-toed ungulates of the Equidae family native to eastern, southern and southwestern Africa. They are best known for their distinctive white and black stripes, which come in different patterns unique to each individual. They are generally social animals and can be seen in small harems to large herds.

Zebras are generally 2.3 m (8ft) long, stand 1.25-1.5 m (4-5ft) at the shoulder, and weigh around 300kg (660 lbs), although some can grow to more than 410 kg (900 lbs). In addition to their stripes, zebras have erect, mohawk-like manes. Unlike their closest relatives, horses and donkeys, zebras have not been truly domesticated. There are three species of zebra: the Plains Zebra, Grevy's Zebra and the Mountain Zebra. They can be found in a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, savannas, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains and coastal hills.

The name "zebra" comes from the Old Portuguese word zevra which means "wild ass". The pronunciation (in IPA) is /ˈzɛbrə/ (ZEB-ra) internationally, or /ˈziːbrə/ (ZEE-bra) in North America.

This one is the Plain Zebra as it has wider stripes then the others. Hope you like
the striped fellow:)

This giy looked indeed different my sweety, even for me after 30 years of Africa experience it made me quite happy to see a different natural colour, suppose as well this a better way to be
invisible to the enemy, like lions....
Will go now and dream of white beaches and giro's:))) Kisses Jenxx

Me too liked my striped brownish fellow as well my dear Stan, it was standing there like posing
not running off at once, as they often do when hearing a car, so sitting there and stand still
was a breathtaking moment, thank you my dear,
enjoy your weekend, cheers!!:)
Hugs Jenxx

Its funny how this zebra was much more interesting then the real b&w ones, so soft tones and warm colours, standing there like part of the
landscape my dear, so very happy with your comment, thank you so much my sweety!!
Hugs and kisses for now,

Tried to clean it but the dust wouldnt get off:))
It looks even warmer with this colour I think,
also looks like his fron hairs and brush are more black then normal, but its not a mountain Zebra as they have their stripes also on the tummy, quite interesting difference to see, if you like them:)) How wonderful you found yourself some inet over there.
I will stay out of the Crete anagram btw, thats more your 'part' lolll
Sleep well and keep your hands above the blankets!! ;-) Cheers!!

This is very subtle and elegant. The detail and tones are excellent - I like the fact he's not the pure B&W that you would expect, and the partial desaturation of the grass.
