Debbie, I've heard from many on here that velvia tends to bleed reds, so for vibrant red flowers you might want to try a different slide film. Tony Smallman has the cork trees that he has taken pics of, not using velvia, and they turned out amazing. You might think of asking him what film he uses. I like the framing on this one, but I am not sure about the effect, which look like speckles. Almost too grainy for my liking... but hey, that's just me!!! *grin* I congratulate you on your continued efforts on each and every one of your photos to learn something new and then take that knowledge and use it!
Yes, I was very disappointed when I saw this flower with my precious velvia film...I just don't know how others do their flowers so nicely getting in all the details of the petals. I have use reflectors...f/32 down to f/16...Had my camera..not on this one..but others level with the flower...so...anyway...thanks to PhotoShop and all those who created it...I'm able to at least do some "artistic" work with my pictures from time to time.
Do you like the texture..framing..composition>Bill?
Nice angle of view. Looks like you have a problem with red bleed (loss of detail in petals). I have the same when I photograph poppy flowers. I'm not sure how to correct it but I know it is an illumination problem. Some films fail to discriminate between similar tones especially intense reds & oranges. Hope some one can help with this.
