Scanner fails to give you the best representation of this. I originaly did this for a class. Single 640 w/s softbox. Bellows draw at about 18". I think the title says it all.
I will grant the arm being chopped off and to be honest I didn't notice it that much until you mentioned it. I did this portrait in a very confined space. A room about 8x10 in size. Talk about a trick. I couldn't back up much more without removing a wall. The original print does show a lot more detail on the dark side- blasted scanner. As to the "evil" look. I was not trying to achieve evil just intense. However, I will admit that many people could percieve it that way. Thanks for everyone's comments.
Very nice, just a few nits. I would not have let it get quite so dark on the right side, perhaps just a little from a fill card to get a toouch of detail in there.
Also don't like the clipped arm on the left, looks a bit awkard with the black frame just stopping like that.
Add some more rim light to the right side if you are going to make it go real dark, just to add a bit of separation.
Other than that it looks kinda neat and scarey. Guess I will have to stop hanging out in dark alleys would hate to run into this guy. ;=]
D'jever see Ghostbusters 2 with that evil guy "Vigo" who controls his evil minions from within the painting? Say hello to him for me, hehe. Anyway - I think the sidelighting does succeed in giving the "evil" look you're after, tho its a touch harsh to retain the illusion (as if i know what im talking about, the highlight just seems a bit hot anyway) - also, go symmetrical, dont chop off his right arm, givem' a lil space to be evil within~
