Kevin....nice dof, you got the point of focus right..the left is distracting as Vlad stated but It's not the void that is distracting but the off centering of the flower....this is making the frame left weighted which than makes the black spaces dominate...crop the left until your point of focus is centered....not that centering is paramount at all but it does work for this image........Brighten a little bit in your photoeditor as I imagine the image itself is a bit brighter.......
good concept and good seeing this......make the corrections and I think you will like it as the image will be more powerfull.......

I think you are right, I considered cropping it out but was worried that it lost any sense of balance.
