This photo was taken in order to capture the strange positions my Golden Retriever "Lily" sleeps in. Well, she was alseep a half second before this picture was taken.
I like the deep dramatic shadows, as I think it gives her a sense of mystery. And with that one eye open, staring, it makes me wonder what she's thinking. Looks like a comfy "bed" she's taken over! One slight distraction is the two dots of orange/red light in the upper left... I can't see a reason for them to be there, and so I would clone them out. Nice framing... you've made a picture of what could so easily be a snapshot just by focusing on the upper half of Lily, instead of trying for the whole body. I'd be interested to know if this was film, and if so, what kind of film you used... the colours pop off the screen! Thanks for all your comments on my work yesterday... it'sa pleasure and an honour when someone takes the time to go through your portfolio!
I like the content. Lily is so nice. My bitch also sometimes rests in this position, and I'm always amused when she does.
From a technical viewpoint, I think the lighting could have been better. The shadow area in the foreground is totally devoid of detail, and that is distracting. I'm not sure the two red spots in the upper left corner help the image.
