Julia, this is a really good start at ports. Ports are my line of work and I love capturing the special spirit of each person. A little constructive comments, I am not sure if this was your intent but her hands are cut out. This looks to me like its too close of a full body shot. Next time back off and show the hands and feet in a pose as this. Children's hands are very cute and bare feet really add natural character your picture. Try having her fold her arms over her knees so that her hands show. Keep it up you have an excellent start here. ~Honey

Hi - I just started the NYIP course - I'm on unit 3 which I'm just finishing up. So, I haven't officially started the portrait work - though that's what I absolutely love and dream of getting into one day.......

Nice portrait indeed. Love the ligting. Very cute girl.
I checked I am also an NYIP student. But I am not yet in the Portrait lessons. Hope you heared a forum where NYIP students share ideas and info. in MSN site.
