my kitties are celebrating their first birthday on Jan 2nd and I wonder what to give them as a present.. I think spending sometime in the great outdoor is the perfect idea..! thanx to your pic.. i love it.. it's one of the sweetest kitty pictures i've ever seen! :) to my fav..

Thanks Susan, Terrence, Goncalo and John. This was a fun picture to work on.
The original (see attached) was a mess, being both underexposed and blurry. I would have passed it over but for the sentimental value. In the end, I did what I could to save the picture by greyscaling it, playing with the contrast, reinstating the colour depth and toning it in a warm light. I sharpened it as much as I dared and applied a slight crop to eliminate some of the excess background. Glad you liked the results.

Awwwww, hehe. Good take on this one john, animals do have friendships as well i suppose. Really like the border/drop shadow you're using lately too.

I love the backlit halo around both of them. Adds a lot of energy to subjects full of potential for a lot of movement. The photo made me nearly maudlin, and if that was your desired effect, IT WORKED! Thanks for posting this opportunity to smile.
