Very nice shot . . . I'd be likely to put it in color just naturally . . . its a good idea in black and white--something more unusual than you normally see for flowers.

Eric: Thanks for the comments. I actually lighted the center of the rose with more than natural light for just that effect. Nice to know it was noticed! Regards - Doyle I

This is a really fine image. I've been doing a few flowers in b&w because the effect is often so elegant--as you show here. Best wishes, --George

This is a very pretty shot, Doyle! I really like the choice of b&w here. Well done! Interesting that you've named all your roses after Bible characters. How many do you have? The Bible must be an important book to you...as it is to me! Thanks for your comment on my work...mush appreciated! Kathy

Doyle, this is an excellent study of this rose. You've got excellent tone and composition here. The brighter center jumps out at you. Great Job!
Mark, there are some other BW flowers around. I've done a few: http://www.usefilm.com/image/121410.html

This is probably the only floral i've seen in this website that's in black & white, and I have to compliment you for seeing it more than in the colors that it partly exists as. In b&w, you're forced to see it in the essential forms and shapes and lines. Also tones. Rose blooms exist only for awhile, then wither. Their only legacy is in the next rose that blooms and the memory of the previous.
