it may be displaying a little hot online here (vs your monitor, etc etc) but in general the shadows from the (pistils? stamens? err) look unnatural, the light in general just screams flash, which works ok with some subjects (bugs that wont hold still, etc etc) but since my general notion of a flower revolves around the softness of the petals and the texture of them, u get the point, heh. I'm hardly the one to tell you how to go about fixing this though. My best suggestion would be to work mainly with ambient light and use less fill, or go all out and use softboxes in the studio if thats an option
I would be interested in more detail behind your "harsh lighting" comment. I am not sure what you mean, basically because these flowers were shot in the early morning, using diffused natural light through trees. To me, the flower still appears soft and delicate with great detail. So I am a little confused. Please provide more detail.
unfortunately, even bounced, the light is just too harsh to pull it off with a delicate subject such as thissen, good composition and sharp detail otherwise tho~
