About Here I am looking down at the camera with it pointed at a mirror. I cropped it square because it just happened to be about the best crop. The high contrast comes from the low lighting I shot into.

My local photography club is the same way..and all they do are nature/landscape shots. That's why usefilm has been so helpful to me. I've mostly stopped doing self-portraits because they're so hit-or-miss (so hard to compose shots and be in them at the same time...unless you're Jay Gumm, I guess). I'm going to have the opportunity to do some studio shots in November (free studio space); I hope to get back to doing some studio portraits and nudes then. Maybe I'll throw in a few of myself if a model doesn't show up..;) Regards.

a darker background would make you stand out more but something in a gray would work fine. black might be too much.
I belong to photography club and I don't see members like you. They are really old or really dorky. Where are the studmen like you?

I'd let it this way. It's perfect.

i think everything in this selfportrait is perfect...don't change anything!

I thought the title was kind of clever because the model isn't looking up toward the camera lens, but because it's a picture of the photographer, he is--in fact--looking at the camera. If I'm not presenting it as a self-portrait, however, I agree that the title should be different.

This is a strong portrait, with great texture. I like the unusual crop. Very sensuous.

I like the empty corner, it stresses on the mood of the photo. And I like the crop as well, showing the shoulder in detail

I purposely left it empty for an off-center shot. Maybe I need a stronger background color--like black?

Geez Michael you're rather ruggedly handsome. Top right hand corner is a bit empty.

very strong portrait, love the shadow and level of detail, however the title detracts from the emotional elements that appear to the viewer, what are you thinking? etc. is taken away from us with the title "looking down into the camera"
