About Decisive moment! Don't think so...This got away from me..They were alot faster than the Nikon. I don't think the Coolpix 5000 is cut out for this kind of photography. Though the cars were doing 160 mph. A liitle fast Photoshop on this to add the speed. I know it is not a perfect photo, but with the effect, I thought it could be a little humorous, OK so not rolling on the floor funny! #9 Bill Elliot, last Sunday NASCAR Dover Speedway.

Well we got two baseball teams in the playoffs maybe one of them will make it to the Series. I watching the giants play right now. Naked guys how about naked women still waiting to to some of that type of photography. Nice motion capture on this one I hear they got a new bad boy in that sport after Earnhardt die last year my brother was upset on that one he's got a lot of memorabilia of him.

Interesting comments. I may not be rolling on the floor but I am a bit wiser after reading the comments on sports photography !!! I have to laugh at that. Well done.

Yea! Speed! Nicely captured, even though it was faster than the camera, it still makes an interesting image.

Hi Greg:

Even with a preset exposure and focus lock, my CP 990 has a shutter lag of a couple of tenths of a second, the CP 5700 maybe a little less. For action photography, it's the D60 SLR, always!

The PS effect looks good. I would have been tempted to correct the tilt and edit out the tops of the heads in the foreground, but that would leave you with a pretty tight frame on the car. --Jim

i guess this was how my car looked when police..ahem...noticed I was driving too fast! I learned the lesson though, now everybody swear at me cos I'm too slow :))

would have liked to see the whole car, but the effect is my favourite!

Ok, so it's not rolling on the floor funny but I like the motion you added even if it does come through the fence. I went to the aquarium yesterday and found I can't take pictures through glass or water...

From the look of the fence, you were not panning. So you were trying to trap the car as it passed across your field of view. Good luck with that using anything digital except an SLR. That shutter lag will get you every time. If you had been panning you would probably have twisted yourself into a knot before the shutter fired!

As a picture it does depict speed pretty well, even though the PS motion blurring passed right through the fence. Composition-wise, it's a mess, as I'm sure you'd agree. I like your work but this is not my favorite.
