I like this portrait. The subject looks strong and unafraid. Her direct gaze into the camera is unflinching, and seems unapologetic for a life fully lived.
The toning adds an alternate view. It is like something seems out of place and you can't quite figure out what it is. In this case, the tension adds interest.
I'm less enthusiastic about the texture. Once you've seen it, you'll start to see it everywhere, enough that it looks gimicky and has a 'been there/used that filter' feel. You don't need the texturing to make this photo work. It is bold enough to stand alone without the treatment.
The photo on itself is captivating.

I like this a lot. The expression of a strong woman is emphasized by the texture and tone - and yet it is soft, expressive and artistic. Poetry and a long story live in this excellent image. In other words, it rocks. To my favorites. Cheers!

Thank you for your comment on my inner sensibility but I actually was just playing in ACDSee program with find edge option and then some adjustment in colors, and you have to believe me I cannot reproduce it again, I have tried ha h a.. just a moment of inspiration :-) Kiss Bibi

That is one strong expression to make its stand through all the filtering and PS manipulation. Very well done.

Yes the PS work on this photo was a matter of three of four clicks and a slide of the color balance.... easier than making a LOCAL phone call........ which required at least seven button pushes......
but the "victim" stance of the photo you are referencing still shouts 'victim' and I could not care less whether it is a male/female... male/male/ female/female or newt/newt.... I have no biases... but I DO have opinions cincerning victimized humans....and THAT photo indicates an UNwilling participant. REDO the photo... make it participatory, and I will still think the lighting and composition are well done.... but will probably have more respect for the photographer... as well as the "dominant" figure.

I just saw your critique ofthe nude male photo, I gotta say you really hit a nerve with me women, #1 you come into the critique going "nude male? pfft, thats a nude male covered by a female" that is actually nude male covered by another nude MALE... so in all of your self righteousness you were WRONG. #2 You whole critique was off base.
nice photo btw.. I like the PS work.. so simple to do

Hello Karen , A very nice image , I like the painting filter effect filter , nice tones and good soft details , may be it's better to frame it to give the eyes more space ti move aroung. Regards ............. ~~ Hassan ~~
