About I love her expression of haughtiness here, laying on the bear skin rug. The background is the same distracting cabin, but I've tried to blur it out even more. Did it help?

Ha, ha! The low angle is critical to the feeling of dominance. I think the out of focus bear is fine, probably better than focused. If you had closed down to focus the bear as well, you would have had to live with a more distracting background. Of course you could achieve the aim with selective photoshop blur, but that gets a little complicated for minimal gain. I would have liked her paws completely shown. Now, this one would look good in a calendar. However I think they usually want landscape format for calendar images.

If this photo is all about Fia, then perhaps a higher angle should have been used. The angle used here displays the bear's head quite prominently. Its expression is much more dominating than Fia's - the fierceness of its mouth and eyes is what attracts my initial attention. I'm not sure if this is a case to blur the head more or less. I wonder what others think . . . . ;)

I agree with you Becky, about the focus on the bear, and I'm still contmeplating, as the way it is now, it's all about Fia. Nothing is in focus except her, and that's the way she likes it... lends more stately power to her. But of course, I should have tried one with more DOF to get the bear as well... options... I always forget about the options. *grin*
I will tone the door down, as it does compete.
Katrina, where would you crop? Less headroom?

The background blur does help, though I would like to see the yellow door toned down a few notches as it really competes for attention. On the other hand, I wish the foreground was in focus. I feel blurring the bear's head diminishes the relationship between the Conquerer and the conquered.

I absolutely adore Fia's expression. I don't think I've ever seen her look so queenly. :)

The bluring of the log cabin did work some what, but I would have also done some cropping.
