So you're sittin' around the house really bored. I mean REALLY bored. So you say to yourself, "Hrm.... it is cold outside. I think I'll stay home and take some photos!" You still have a huge problem, though..... it has been a long week and you don't have much room left in your brain for creativity. So you walk in to the kitchen to get a drink. "AH HA!" You say to yourself. I need a photo hanging in my kitchen. But remember, you have no room in your brain for creativity. "Hrm... what to photography... hrm... ....food! Food goes in kitchens!" At this point, that sounds original, so you run with it. On to the next challenge. You travel a lot for work, so food in an attractive state is a rare thing in your fridge. You spot something behind the butter. "A Lemon! Woo hoo!!" Your boredom is alleviated for all of 10 minutes, and this is what you have to show for it.
hey, it's pretty creative. Hell, people shoot pictures of bugs. You could always shoot pics of yourself dissing the lemon, or squeezing it and throwing it around the house...
Blakely, I don't know about the angle, I think it may introduce a unacceptable degree of disorder and chaos into an otherwise perfect composition. Also the lemon seems a bit small, overwhealmed by the plate (see below). Taking a large bite of the lemon will usually cure boredom, at least temporarly. Great Work!! reguards, ray w.
Heya Stephen.... I did actually choose the slight diagonal of the background. I didn't like it perfectly horizontal or vertical, and I thought the diagonal would be a subtle point. I'm glad you like it, simple as it may be.... perhaps on my next day of severe boredom I'll add a lime, or maybe be even more daring and try a non-citrus :)
I like it, nice color contrast, I like the table covering texture and color contrasting with the white plate and then the nice deep yellow of the lemon. I can see this hanging in my kitchen right now. If I can get a bit stranger, did you intentionally do the slight diagonal not to be a 45 or 90 degree angle. It almost makes me feel like the plate is sliding down the screen viewed vertically as it is. I get almost a motion feeling when I look at the background instead of the plate.
