About	Taken just before a downpour of rain and hail (and yes I did have to run home on foot in the rain). The clouds behind the tree caught my attention.

Hi,

Unfortuneatly this was the only way to get the shot of the clouds and this tree without any other trees in the image. I was just about standing right under it.

If I had shown the whole tree you would have had very little sky and about 30 other trees all with leafs on them ;-(

To have made that tree seem small using this camera I would have had to be several meters below ground level. There are trees either side that would still have had to be cropped out too.

Thanks for the comments. In the future I will try to find either a smaller tree or a very lonely tree and try the shot again.

nice to see someone else in pursuit of storms :) We are not getting any rain storms here lately,just gloom and snow flurries.
I like this, it does work. but just a suggestion to try for an image like this, I would try to compose so that the tree appears small and threatened by the stormy sky...but it does depend on what type of mood you are trying to achieve and what is your subject - the tree or the storm?

Something is niggling me though, I think I'd really like to see the trunk of the tree.
I'm not sure though.... H:)
