Good use of negative space below the leaves. It seems to anticipate their falling. It's not at all melancholy, but actually to me seems to gladly anticipate the coming of winter.

Many thanks to those who commented. I'm learning to trust the camera more, or really, I'm starting to trust the camera more than I trust myself, lol.
John and Jeff, I like your crop suggestion. I tried several crops, and felt like I'd already cropped plenty so stopped where I did. Your version simplifies the image even more, which I like.
And, lol, Jeff...a Cubs fan! I guess if supporting a losing team year after year, decade after decade, rain or shine, then maybe I am. My college team wins once every 50 years or so, and boy do we celebrate when we do.

Nice capture here MS! I think Mr. Barclay has pretty much said what I would have. This has some great color and is pretty sharp considering the wind. Nice work!

Nice fall image Mary Sue. Nice color and soft background. I'd have been tempted to crop a bit tighter as attached. If so I'd have also plucked the one leaf on the left to clean up the frame..
