Hi Telmo, I'm impressed by the huge emotion in this shot. The use of the Depth of Field emphasises this quite alot. The pose of the beggar is somewhat submissive, but also rather theatrical. I think the smile Anindya mentions forms a shocking contrast, but also expresses the attitude towards beggars. Great reportive photograph. Well done, but no rating, as this depiction of human tragedy and "mirror to the world" can't be rated....
My compliments on this capture though!
Cheers,
Hugo

Great portrait, your skillful use of DOF separating the main subject from the bg.However the smiling boy in the bg is a little distracting;perhaps a slightly diff angle to avoid him would have made this pic even better(tho I know that in street photography it's not always feasible).

nO COMMENT....STRONG AND GOOD DOC. CAPTURE. ...IT MAKES ME SAD AND MAD =,/ ..Really mad..on a global level 'cause there,we are mostly sensless and blind (except for our own but's) and it's a paifull truth in 21st century...beh!
..We need to change our tiny and big selfish ways_it might improove chances for living without begging while someone is at the same time eating "patte a'la whathever" for desert paying $170....bla,bla,...nevermind... MERRY CHRISTMAS ....Wish all the best to ALL of the kind!

It is a really touching photo, looking at it moves me very much, but I also feel sad, above all looking at the man's glance and his position almost imploring, I would like nobody to be forced to live in this way? It is technically almost perfect, but these things do not matter here, the message of this photo is too deep. Bye Max
PS: a person who does photo like this cannot be ugly! But surely you are humorous!!! ;))))

It was a difficult choice for DOF I am sure. A sharper hand in the foreground or sufficient blurring of the background. You did well IMO. The hand in the lower right corner and the staff are interesting elements to me.

Wow.. Telmo a very good photojournalism photograph here, oh, so sad. so miserable world we are living in.. I am so sad sometimes to see such photos. YOurs is very appealing and emotionnal. great work here. Kiss, Biliana
P.S. thank you dear for your comment on my red turbullence, and yes it is a passion from my 11. year of age ;-) I was looking yesterday my other non-digital photographs, and I saw some good photos. and then I realized that I am not so bad, and shooting all my life. with pauses, too much photos in my house, and they are all mine, but I am doing digital photography since november last year 2002. so I am improving each day, but I think that I have reached some level of expertize with this Canon G3. Hope Canon will be my sponsor ha ha .. no kidding, there are so great photographers with G3 ;-) You will see next year, when I am going to buy the new Canon EOS D60 ha ha .. maybe 10D, more cheap ha ha .. Thank you so much. My warmest regards, to you and your family. Kisses and Love and Understanding, Your Friend amateur Biliana ha h a.. ;-)

This is a fine 'street' image, Telmo. The depiction of the beggar is very eloquent and moving, but my attention was also drawn to the interesting figures in the background. They add something valuable to the total affect of this well-executed image.
