It certainly makes a clear statement cropped as such.
As for the cali plate...an antique one would have enhanced the shot perhaps, but it doesn't detract in my opinion. Anyway it hardly seems worth loosing more of the chrome bumper at any rate.

Jeff, Like your idea, a little bit of the car goes a long way huh? Took the pic just because car looked so clean. Thanks for your comments, Thats what we are here for.

Russ, I get to see the car everyday, so I will take your advise too the next time I am shooting B&W. As far as the top goes, I'm not sure but I think it is the removable hardtop.

Again thanks for all the advise. Really enjoy it.

Bob,

In my humble old fart opinion, I think this shot would have been better composed if you shot it straight on, centering the bulls eye on the grill and barely catching the hood scoop, then cropped to the edges of the car and the bottom of the plate. Really tried to emphasize the bulls eye. make that your center of focus. With the right lighting and exposure, the chrome will almost look black. I think the truck next to the '58 really distracts from the car. I would leave "Fairlane" in, It is part of the classic. Some of us remember these as the family car. They bring back some good memeories. By the way, was this the hard-top model that self stored in the trunk?
Later my friend,

Russ

Hi Bob. A sharp and detailed picture. It has an excellent range of tones in it. Your question about the crop is hard to answer. If you consider why you took the shot, it will help to decide on a suitable crop. My choice FWIW is attached. The reason I chose it was because the F50 on the vehicle just visible to the right and the half seen Californian tag plate do nothing for the picture and our minds tend to want to complete any writing we see and make sense out of it. I removed the 'Fairlane' for the same reason. What do you think?

Nice work BTW!

Cheers!
Jeff
