About I was on one of my many urban-derives about London, during a three week stay there in the steamy summer of 1994. Knocking about the docks on a long walk, in a dsolate area near Tower Bridge, since redeveloped, I stuck my head over the edge and saw this sight - call it natural or call it man made. What was going on was a naturally ready-made installation at work. This image, before I even had the film processed, I was sure would get me somewhere. And indeed it did. In early 1997 at Melbourne's CCP summer salon it won "the best image on an environmental theme". Later that year it impressed the people at Leica that they kindly loaned me a Leica R6.2 for 12 months to take along to Europe for use towards my artist residency in Budapest which was also I think inspired from this image. Funny thing it was still a couple of years until I finally sold a copy, in April 2000 for the princely sum of AU$90. The original CCP display print was approx 120 X 90cm with broad white boaders, I gave it to a friend last year before departing Australia.

A fascinating image! It almost looks like an abstract as the water looks almost unreal with its many colours.
