This does look quite well. Not too contrasty for me. Don.

and the other ninety-nine were left in the fold - you really got some meaningful shots from this photo expedition...I agree with Hugo regarding the quality of this shot -
the softness, the subject matter, and the handling all have a wonderful quality and this certainly is one of your most compelling series...

Hermen, I agree with all the others, I like it as it is. You could have indeed hit the sharpen button once, but sometimes I like to be a bit unsharp and in this photo I like it very much. Just gives that bit of mystery atmosphere that makes this photo just beautiful.

That might be it.... Nonetheless, the softness creates a nice atmosphere, though. I do think this is an improvement on the original scan.

Hugo, still I think something is missing - maybe it is sharpness as Chris said...

Hi Hermen, remember Rien Poortvliet? Well, this photo does remind me of his work. Very natural. I don't quite see why you think the contrast is quite high, the tonal range and colours are very well balanced, I think. (no need for a histogram for that...:) I like the by the bushes obscured flock, it adds a nice tension to the shot. This time, I honestly don't see what you mean. Excellent composition, one of your best yet!
Cheers,
Hugo

Actually Hermen, I quite like the contrast as it is, but a little sharper would be good. Great story, nice shot... Kind regards, Chris
