Wonderful capture, Jon. You can see the water still falling from his feet. I like this new Usefilm. Takes a little getting use to the change though. I just back from the Gulf coast this morning and this afternoon was my first time to see the new format.

i was near Baltimore Maryland today, Thursday march 18th on business and I decided to take old Route 40 back to Philadelphia instead of interstate I-95. after going about five miles I saw a marshy area to my left, which I is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and spotted this great blue heron!{this is the same marsh that I got the pictures of the two beautiful wild white swans several weeks ago!) with great delight i turned by Ford Explorer around parked on the side of the road. then i started shooting pictures of him from approximately 125 yards away, with my trusted Fuji s5000, on full telephoto, in the sports mode, with the digital magnifier activated! 10x+2xdigital. i wish he would have been closer, Im sure I could have gotten much more dramatic shots! thanks for all your wonderful and constructive comments! best regards, jon [ps by the time I started shooting pictures of this beautiful bird was 4:30 PM in the afternoon]

Hi Jon,
Beautiful photograph, I really like this site you have used for several of your photographs, so nice! Kind of monotone, silvery looking! I like it.
The bird kind of blends in, at a quick glance he doesn't jump out at you. (or should I say, 'fly out'....just kidding ya!)

GREAT capture getting this action!
Have a nice evening!

Lori :)

Great action shot Jon. The wings all spread out and showing his colors. This one shows exactly the motion that is taken to take flight. Awesome Jon!

I agree with John. You need to crop it tighter. The Heron gets lost with its surroundings.

Nice capture! It might look better with a tighter crop to put more emphesis on the herron.Just a thought. My best,JOHN
