It's a beautiful bird and you capture it from an excellent angle that makes him big, imponent and impressive. Im not sure but I think you removed most coloutrs to accentuate the presence of the cage or fence, as Jeroen Krol names it, getting in this way a dramatic look of the situation in which the bird has ended up. To me, it works very well here for... what is more dramatic than being deprived of his freedom for life? - Poor animal!!!! Definitely a good shot with emotional appeal I love it! 7+++ Emgy

for e it doesn't work to be honest. It's a bit dull like this. The angle is good, but the bad thing is that there are fences in zoos.... There is probably not a very good solution for that, I guess they need them? ;-)
The only thing to try to get rid of them is to get a shallow Depth of Field, but I see you already were on f/2.8
But I love his expression.
