About Straight off the card - no cropping, no adjustments, no nothing - except for resizing.

Don't know how it happened, but I am thrilled with this effect. Just wish it didn't have that bright white circle.

Let me have your opinions please? :-)

Hey Glenn, I got a better idea - why not come to my country and I will show you where to take these shots?

Thanks for the praise and comment - it's stuff like that makes me want to go out and do better all the time!

Linn,

aha! I misinterpreted you, then. I still like the circle effect--I think it is a good good counterpoint to the spiky petals. I've been trying some shots with the macro feature on my fuji, but haven't quite figured out how to get that softer background effect--maybe my flowers are too close to what's in the background. hmmm.
Food for thought . . .

Regards,
Anne

Anne, I meant that I don't know how I got the "paint" effect - maybe I had a bit of camera shake?

I shot the flowers against a background of connifers. I have a bunch of them - mixed colours, some pale green, others dark green, and some like a silvery green. I had the flowers quite a distance from the connifers so that I could get a good background. The sun was filtering through the branches, not too much though.

Linn,

I really like the effect you got with the dots in the background -- too bad you don't know how it happened, because I'd love to try it myself! I like the composition and the colors as well--it's lovely.

Regards,
Anne

You're right, Linn, it does have a real painterly look to it!
I like it a lot, though I agree about the white circle.
Kind regards, Chris
