i like this one a lot, the light reflection on the other cherry is a bit distracting to me, but also gives me the sense that it is just shiny and fresh and juicy, which over rides any negative i take from it. great job, keep up the macro thing it is really fun!

Very nice macro, but I think the cherries here better need a shower first before taking photos ~

sarah, to be honest, i didn't notice the reflection at first. i think it's fine as is. the reflection is not to big or blown-out and gives ame a sense of mass and shape. the cherry would look fake without it. i aso agree with your choice to focus on the stem as brings the scene alive. don't think the effect would be same had you focused on the cherry and left the stem oof. very nice shot!
take care, tom

I think the small highlight is important. It's a small detail, but it provides a counterbalance to the dominance of the large red shapes....as do the stems. I think these small details make the picture if their proportion is correct. You did the same thing with the lemon, and it worked well too.

Sarah, I do find the highlight to be slightly distracting, but I think one thing would make a huge difference here: water w/ spary bottle, and also I think having the focus on the body of the cherry should be area of focus w/ stem extending out of focus.
