About Badwater, Death Valley National Monument, California, 1991.

This is the reverse angle to the "Badwater" photo -

I added the words here in the 'puter - I actually have a version with the same exact words stuck on with Letraset that I did back then!
It was 120 degrees Fahrenheit when I took this shot - a thermometer in the truck said, about the 'outside temperature.'

Yes, that was my truck back then...

Yep - I had a camera in one hand and 100 rolls on a sling in the other, and I came out blasting...... like Rambo meets Arnold.......

Yep I tried the same thing -

I always wondered why the sign is not BIGGER - but then it probably is at least 6x6, but it's so high and deep back there, it just looks small - and thus the difficulty of framing the car together to make it legible......

yoshi, great idea placing your car in the fore and adding the lettering. i tried, in vain, to shoot this so that the sign was legible and retain the feeling of altitude. needless to say, it didn't work very well ;^)

take care,
tom

Yeah when I took the photo I had planned on placing the letters and the arrow by drawing it on the printed photo, which I did.....

and now that I can do it digitally, that is the result.....

Don't Park, you're about to drown, that sign in the other shot said! And what do you do? Park, and take the time to absorb the heat of being almost 100 m below sea level. Cool shot. The car adds a nice diversion. Including the entire front wheel and a bit of the surface below it would've finsihed this one. Intresting balance in this shot through the addition of the letters. Nice touch, and a good shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

Yes Steven you really should....

and no Air Conditioning allowed! You MUST drive there in the summer with the windows DOWN..... and in any case, you wouldn't want to blast the A.C. too much for a lonr period through here anyways, because of the chance of over-heating.....

need a guide?
