About Had a tamron 2xtc before the lens and a 500D closeup after. The image is a composite of two successive frames in an effort to increase DOF. It is about a 50% crop of the original to show off the details of the face.

Thanx for your kind comments on my images Vernon. I just love macro and modern technology (i.e., digital - which is what I was weaned on) seems to make it easier to do than ever before.

Hi Benedict,
Thanx for the kind words. The critter was peched outdoors and untouched by me. It was a cooperative midel though. I should also note that the image is a composite of two taken in succession with the goal of increasin the DOF at this high magnication.
Best,
Mark

Superb portrait! Compositing different planes of focus to increase depth of field is an inspiring idea - I will try it with film and software.

David

Well, Mark, you got closer than me, indeed! BTW, how do you convince them to stay still between the two shots? ;)

Hi Mark,
AMAZING!
You're the KING of macro to me, you must certainly have a lot of patience to shoot those bugs.

Hi Mark,
This one is 'off the charts' for sure!!!

It's already a favorite! I have never seen one this good! Incredible all the detail you have captured here. It's just beyond me how you can get this close, focus, take several; all without the insect moving!

Next time you can tell him to 'open wide' and say 'Ahhh'

FANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPH my friend!!!!
Lori ;)

Wow! My only question is...
Is he/she smiling?

Great macro.

He looks like he is smiling and must have been very patient for his 'Sitting' if you indeed used four 'Soft Boxes' for lighting ... just kidding of course! Very well done and Best of Regards.

it just gets closer ! I can't say better because your work has been out of this world for some time. This is exceptional. I still ahve the email from you but haven't had time to find the photos you had outlined in the email. Getting clos to my west trip and I am stoked. Hope this finds you well. Thomas was on ESP " Great Outdoor Games " last month !! He was a judge for the Flyfishing. Enjoy the rest of your summer
