Hi Mark, I have exactley the same lens, and that's what they recommended to me in the shop but like you I am certainly not extremely happy with it, having images that are slightly soft is very frustrating, but what I do is try and sharpen the images in photoshop before uploading anywhere, it does make a difference allright. Now I wish I had just taken that Nikon lens, but they never tell you these things dp they? Sorry I cant be more helpful Mark, but if something comes up I will let you know or maybe you could let me know

Hi Philip,
It seems that all digital SLR's have this problem, even the professional ones (a professional photographer told me even worse!), but is very easily solved.
However, i'm still not satisfied. I did some tests, and i think it's my lens ( a Sigma AF 28-70 f 2.8). Either there's something wrong with it, or it's noticably inferior to the D70 kit Nikon lens (18-70).
Do you have any advice for me?
Thanks, Mark

Actually Mark, I have noticed that too, it is very soft looking allright but how do you find the manual mode,is it any better and sharper? Or is it a slight technical flaw in the camera itself?

Hi Philip,
I noticed your photo is not in focus. Do you by any chance have backfocussing problems with your D7, 'cos i have.
Regards, Mark

hi phil, i really love the way the shadows work, especially how the telephone pole cuts the picture in half. whenever i desaturate a print, i also work with the levels and contrast. you'll be amazed with the results. btw, thanks for your review :'D
