About standing in the middle of the water, with a dry suit on, while on the most amazing hike in the USA... brought the 35mm and tripod, set up in the middle of the water, well kind of had no choice cause the trail is the river between the canyon walls. very beautiful images from here, i didnt even begin to capture the beauty with the camera. i have to go back again, and its really not far from me now here in colorado

hey michael, thanks for checking out my portfolio, yes zion and brice being so close to one another are two wonders of this beautiful country... the narrows is an amazing hike and well worth doing, if you get the chance to go i would say stay the extra day or make some time for it.... have to be careful on when you do it though, there is an outfit in town that rents all the equip to walk up the water way and they know there stuff... also check out michael fatili he is a local photographer in that area and is getting big quick in the landscape world of photography, i will own one of his prints one day!!!!

thanks again for checking out my portfolio

I wanted to shoot this area while I was in Utah, but never had enough time because it was a long hike, I stayed to shorter hikes to make the most of my time. If I ever go back again, I think I'd concentrate my time in Zion N.P. and Bryce's. All of Utah is very beautiful, but these two places are outstanding!
Great foreground and perspective!

alex, thanks for your kind comment, i hiked the narrows more than three years ago, and yes the memories are very vivid, hope they stay with you just as long, i remeber making it up past where you have to shimmy up a log and actually have all fours in the water, and getting water in the face, cold.... but was great. very intense hike but well worth it, and hope to go back someday, cause its only a weekend trip from where i live now in colorado....

thanks again, look forward to more of your work
phil

ps, did you get to go into mike fatalli's gallery while there, wonderful all natural light, with large format.... breath taking work

Phillip, I remember this particular place very well. I hiked the Narrows in July 2004 and the memories are still very vivid.

Phillip, you are lucky to live in a place of such beauty. I love the rock walls and flowing water, great picture!
