About	I was aware of a flash and heard the crash of thunder when I took the picture, but until I examined the negative I thought it was a hair on the scan!!

A very atmospheric shot. A good choice of film, colour would have been a distraction. The scenery adds drama too.

Yes, you don't want lightning to strike much closer than that! The chances of actually capturing the flash must be miniscule, even if you were trying...

Can nothing be done about the burnt-out highlights in the grass (or that's what it looks like)? Does grass just naturally come out by far the brightest? (Not just idle curiosity--I am thinking of trying a roll myself.)
