This is a great shot, Jim! Really shows the finch in good detail, as well as the thistle, which they're all eating this time of year. Dave.

Jim, this is a beautiful picture. Great contrast of colors with the thistle and the bird. You have great DOF here with all in focus that needs to be in focus. Don.

Jim, great shot of the finch. Their tough little birds to get on film, I know, I've tried many times without success. Good job in getting this one. Jim Gamble

Hey Jim this is so so cute, I love it. Great composition. Isn't it such a bonus when a bird/butterfly etc land on something really nice. The dragonfly I posted as I think my second posting was on a concrete pillar - dull. The thistles in themselves are a lovely image. Margaret

Morning Jim Need I tell you this is a great image? :-)) or do you know it? :-)) Great, great capture ... I like the tilt in the finch's head, he was definitely in action and you caught him just at the right moment. Like that minute bit of piece in his beak! Excellent DOF, sharp focus and what makes this image for me is the splash of lilac. Great work. Linn

Fantastic shot. I breed finches, but in Australia we don't have all the species that are available over in your country, so this was like a breath of fresh air to see this image. And the bonus part is, it is obviously free to do as it pleases and not restricted to a cage. Thankyou for sharing. Judi

Wow, talk about a decisive moment, this is one of them. It can stand alone as a floral, but the bird is sure a bonus. Great get, Jim.
Regards,
Mark
