About Photos taken the day after hurricane Charley. This one was shot in Winter Park. Photojournalism is a new thing for me. I'm used to doing still lifes. So shooting so quickly with out time to do a lot of calculations has been a challange. I always go back to my images and see a million faults. This one might have some distracting light shooting through the tree branches, maybe I should burn that area in my darkroom? Also, it looks a bit too underexposed. I'm starting to realize I can't make black and white C-41 film work for me *lol*.

Hello, Lesley -

I don't mind the light in the branches, but I found that my eye kind of wandered back and forth without really coming to rest on anything, except possibly the buildings in the background which is surely not the subject you were after! Looking at it I don't get a sense of damage and devastation, or an idea of emerging, blinking into the sunlight after having survived a disaster. I cannot say exactly what might be changed with this particular image to bring that out. I wonder if b&w was not the way to go with this particular subject?

Cheers,

Jon
