What a beautiful place ! I think your central composition works, and the DOF and tones are perfect. Would be interesting to see a shot after a rain, with some rai?sing mist ;-)

Very nice Stefan!!!, i love the perspective, the way the trees touch eachother and the big house in the background, this image is definetly 7/7.
About the B&W version i like it also, well looking at it again i think is better than the color cause the sun shadows become more obvious and makes a great contrast on the ground
Well done Stefan!!!
Regards,
Miguel Torres

Oh my, wonderful. I've always wanted to visit New Orleans and this photograph makes me want to pack my suitcase and go! What majestic oaks. Excellent photograph. I suppose, to do this scene complete justice, one would have to use a large-format camera and adjust the mirrors for infinite depth-of-field. Rgds, Svend

gorgeous pic. colour is much better than b&w. the detail of the branches at the top was well captured so that these along with the 'tunnel effect' draws my eye into the center and also provides movement. it's this movement and the misty middle that provide the 'je ne sais quois' quality to this pic. a slight crop of the left would center this better as it feels slightly unbalanced.

Dear Stefan,
wow, what a great shot. the widescreen format fits the subject VERY well, lightings, colors and tonal range are near perfect. nice "development" of the haze from the front to the back. shadows and knots make this image, and I won't walk though there even if you pay me a million dollar. gets a near-painted look. fantastic one, stefan. take care, thilo

Wow, places like this really exist? I think i need to visit New Orleans! You captured a wonderful sense of peaceful serenity with this shot... the symetry of the treeline and the centred roadway have a great sense of comfort and home. The warm colours also make this a very pleasing image... I can see it in a den over the fireplace!

Wonderfull, it's like walking into old times, hors riding and speaking like a gentelmen. I like the light faling trough the threes. Also the little of center position is good, it keep the picture exiting. Greets Tim.

Thanks Jeanette - this is not far from what is probably the most photographed plantation in the south (Oak Alley) but I found it to have more mystery than its more famous neighbor.

Thanks for the peace you brought me in this shot... So quit and pure... The photo it self is not so special (I agree with Hugo - this is it, "couldn?t" be another way!)... But the feelings it causes are... Isn't that what art is also about? You did it. ;- PS.: - I agree with your colored choice. After seeing the BW one you posted the original looks even better!

Hi Stefan, nice stately driveway. The mansion, barely visible in the background is well exposed, and the light through the trees is the finishing touch. I wouldn't know a different way to compose such a shot differently, but I do believe the centered lay out makes it a bit static. Although that fits nicely with the subject, i think it works less efficient from a photographical point of view. It's the main reason why I tend to stay away from this kinds of shots. Still, its very well exposed, and an intersting scene....
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Ed - I thought b/w would be better too, but my fiddling did not yield anything beyond this mix of green and red channels.
