About Another reflection shot from the same old window! =) This time ive listened to some of the comment i got on the other shot i made. Karen and Aris thought it was abit chaos/to much things going on.. and to much people. Ive tried to focus on one person here. Also got a input about the 3rd window reflection and how it disturbed the picture abit. Only thing ive used Photoshop for is, Raised the light, Flipped it Horizontly and cropping. All other effects are reflections!

Comments/Thoughts/Ideas/Critique are most welcome! Honest thoughts are worth most ofcourse! =) Both bad and good.

Cheers

Hi again..

What Karen said about the man between the two window reflections is absolutely right and I agree. That's the first step though.
To make something that anyone could recognise as "special" you need more things. I'm talking about the theme. A good composition makes the viewer say "Aaa, everything is settled, things are in the right place". The great photographers do something above that. They try to find THE FACT. Something that happened and is "important". This is not about reportage and news, is about the facts that lead to transcedence. That's what we have to look for and not just geometric and "well done" and "congratulations" shots. I am one of those who are obsessed with harmony in photography but i really don't believe that i am able to reach high levels of transcedence because it's too early for that. We have to be patient, modest and most of all we must not trust what people say. Hear them but not believe them. Respect them but try to find, to explore with books, movies and photos. You need someone to trust. Try to find a teacher or a college or something... We really reach at a point after a few or many years that we say "Yes i am somewhere, and i feel good". Patrick, if you want to be just an amateur photographer in between millions of people that just have a digi-gadget and having a good time, that's ok but i think that you have the talent and the will to step up.
Your friend, Aris

Patrick,
My thoughts: I like this one, maybe the best. I agree that it makes it easier on the eye when there is a focal point of one person. But this one is great because the man hiself looks as if he is looking at a reflection, which increases the complexity and really makes the composition effective!
The one thing I can't figure out is how you took the shot without yourself being reflected!!
Take care!

Hi Patrick,

I missed the whole first serie, but checked it now to get a good base on judging this shot.

And you really learned your lesson, the concentration on one person adds the best. Framing it with the reflection, very good.

Also the flipping horizontally and cropping adds a lot, gives harmony to the composition.

Cheers,
Verena

How often do we traverse this life without conceding the reflections of what we cast around us. Whether they be a mere image or emotions we project upon our fellow man, it is comforting to know you see these things we do without knowing.

Patrick, I am very impressed with your work lately, you have shown remarkable improvement in such a short time, that is one of the strengths of shooting digital, faster learning curve but it is all up to you in the long run. It is fun looking at your portfolio and just see the steady impovement over time (I do that with my portfolio also - just to see how I improved also - one reason I don't remove my older photos).

OK, on to the photo. You have so many elements working here, real and surreal and the man in the center of the image holds it all together. He is the only person in the photo that you can be sure about - maybe. Usefilm should have a new catagory called "Surreal" because this photo is the epitome of what surreal is about. Excellent job Patrick.

This, for me, most definately works. Because of the fact that you have sandwiched the man between the two window reflections, framing him so that he instantly grabs the attention. Perhaps he's walking over to grab a seat and a bite to eat. Me, I could use a seat in the coffee house. Well done~
