Hi Johan Lamb and thanks for your comment! =) Im very happy that you liked the shot! The 12-24 sigma is an ok lens.. i would go for the 14mm though i if i could change my mind! The 2.8 is way better then 4.5-5.6! The Nikkor lens is probebly very good.. =))

Congratulations on the BIP Patrick. Very well composed and processed. The colours are perfect for this moody image. I have been considering the 12 - 24 Sigma but would like a wide angle I can use a polariser on. May consider the Nikkor version. Good work. Regards John

I deeply like this atmospheric image and find no fault with it ! Technically it is perfect! maybe the line between the sky and the water sould be equal but this is not a problem as it is YOUR wish to give this kind of balance to this image. This equality would only honor the geometry of the image.
I just love it!! I wish I were there....
I feel the huge emptines... the silence of the water's voice..the skin of water!!

i agree with hugo. i think this a great panaromic landscape kind of image, but it needs more or a different treatment. i was actually thinking something along the lines of a grainy b&w or a sepia-tone. then i thought of kevin temple's work. check him out and you'll get a better sense of what i mean. but anyways, it's great that you aren't afraid to try all different kinds of subjects. :)

Hi Patrick, The sheer vastness and the emptiness in this shot could be perceived either as this photos virtue, but also as it's pitfall. This is one of the most difficult shots to make, as it's true life impressiveness is a combination of the visual information as well as more tangible things such as temperature, humidity (lack of-) wind, but foremost your state of mind. The viewer can only perceive a still and single sense version of it.
The oncomming breeze, rippling the water in the background is a good telltale of the tension within this scene, as are the clouds. I do like it. Very well captured, but I guess the true essence of the scene can only be felt when you are there. Won't hold that against you, though...;o) A photographically very sound image, and a stunning scenery. Well captured!
