Cheryl That work is gorgeous! I don't have PS or any real editting software yet. I just have MS Paint, but it's not good for much, lol!
I love doing b&w with children, but these were candids for a friend's wedding album and she wanted color. And angles I need to try more of again. If you are willing... I'd love your take on "Pitter Pat" in my portfolio. It's a shot that I also feel is "almost" there, but not quite.

Laura, thank you so much for the encouragement. It took me a bit to warm up to this photo in the stack from the roll, but I'm glad I shared it to get some really helpful feedback!
Laura and Cheryl you both are so right about their level. I've done that for years, but as I have been trying to get more experimental and more daring I'd LOST that basic. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for reminding me. I hadn't even noticed it in my photos until you pointed it out, I greatly appreciate it!

Its a great shot. One trick I learned from a friend is to shot children on their level. It helped me do wonderful shots of kids. Hope that helps. You can also try with another angle and B&W. I used Photoshop to do a little editing. See if you like it. I used the desaturate and then erased where some leaves where for some color effect and also on the lapel where his flower is. I colored lightly over the flower also.

Love his expression. Thats pure exhaustion right there. Poor little guy. Good shot. When taking pictures of children, you might want to get down at their level. You get more of that personal connection. Hope that helps. Great shot.
