Hi Shane,
I really respect for opinion. to be honest, I know this technique very well, but most of the time, I'm too lazy to carry the tripod with me =)

Hi Stefan,
some of the artifacts come from downsizing - always a pain to downscale highly patterned images...
as for the sky: I would LOVE to upload the original image, but this morning my HDD got a CRASH. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It's already on it's way to an institute - hope to get some things recovered.
anyway, thanks a lot for the feedback. take care, Thilo

Dear Carmem,
I know that it's hard sometimes to catch up with the friends' image at UF. So don't worry too much ;-)
thx for the comment. it IS sometimes disappointing when you compare the original image to the downsized one in the WWW.
take care my dear, Thilo

Hi Hugo,
yeah, I had a strong guess what you will say here ;-)
don't laugh, but I made several shots with excessive tilt. the problem with the 14mm is that you get A LOT of stuff into the lens... and on the right and the left, there were some really annoying roof tops. so the more I flipped the horizon, the more PS work would have been necessary.
anyway, I see your point and you're right on that.
thx for the feedback, my friend. take care, thilo

Wow - it look marvelous. Such nice contrast and cool angle. Great colours. I have the feeling that if I climb I will each the sky. I think that was your intention as well. Then perfect. Central perspective is sometimes very effective and here it match very well.

Hi Thilo, I guess you know how I will react to this shot by now....;o) If you keep the vertical perspective, I have to agree off-centering wouldn't work, but I think a excessive tilt of the camera would. That sky sure is sensational, though. Good DOF, and very nice tones and colour depth.
Cheers,
Hugo

Excellent impact - agree about centering this. Just have nits but I'll drag 'em out here... A little bit of the jaggies (step pattern) along the chimney-sky interface. The clouds on the right hand side have a little bit of a different quality that those on the left hand side - it is like some processing is showing there (I know you said you hardly touched the sky...).

Hi Thilo.. sorry for been away from your photos.. you are always so kind with my work... In my opinion, this is a masterpiece on perspective theme. There are some sharp lines a bit excessive... but I think they are due to the compression, sometimes it happens with mine. Cheers! Carmem

The sky on the left looks real.. the sky on the right looks abit odd.. Perhaps the 14mm that gives some distortion? Very nice perspective and angle! The sky is great and the colors are vivid.. it takes away the eyes from the chimney though. Its abit to near someway! Still a great shot.. very nice texture and details also! =)
Cheers

take a look in my portfolio at the image entitled "The Back Strands". This image is made of two identical images - tripod mounted - one exposure for the sky and one for the foreground. I merged them in photoshop. This is an technique you might like. It also helps when the sky is too bright for teh foreground or vise versa.
I like your shot - it is very well composed and executed - I just think its a little fake looking.
Rgds, Shane

Hi Magnus,

thanks a lot for your very positive critics. Franken rules ;-) But I have to admit that after spending several months hunting here I see the region different than before. It's great to let the cam lead your ways. I learned a lot about the country here since that as I'm not born here.
