Thanx Asdren. You're welcome for the comments, and it's nice, though, to know I'm not talking to myself. I'll keep an eye out for more of your stuff. they really had me staring in a stupour some times this year as they unravelled themselves. (That is meant as a compliment!) :)

Oh my I didn't realise you were a Kiwi. My Dad arrives in a couple of days from Auckland. No I am not Kiwi myself...LOL!!
Hi neighbour. BTW I like this image. My husband used to play union for the Keas team. Small world.

I matters not, HOW you got this....it is freaking awesome! I love the grain, the dark mood, the ominous image of danger and intrigue...I love it! I really appreciate all of the kind comments and support that you give me. Your style and sense of humor are refreshing. ..Brad

This is really a fine image -- you must tell me how to modify my canon lens :) so that I too can see the world this way -- great grain and that crow's (i see a crow no matter what it really is) head is perfect - K

Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." This is quite an amazing shot, Ian - if ever I've seen a representation of the sinister, this is it! The atmosphere looks toxic - nuclear, even, as it bubbles forth from the fissure in the earth while the bird scans the horizon for interlopers... If this is indeed an accident, it's a great one! The wires are the only thing I'm a little ambivalent about - they sort of break the wonderful medieval mood. P.S. Thanks so much for your kind comment to me on Tiro's photo!

ian, as an artist you are going to have to drop the honesty. this personal account of a kea pre dawn awakens the feeling of cold feet and warm coffie on the way to a climb into one of new zealands great walks.

Intelligent, playful birds. The wee devils will pull your car apart for sport. On your way back to Austria from your castle in scotland (Kita is waiting) I dream someday of showing you.

I'm actually wondering if I'd have been able to retain more colour by compressing less and instead making the image smaller. I'll have a go

Yup, that's a strong redeeming feature to this image, the cloud. Ans the colour, a lot of which was lost in compressing this to 350 k.

Had a bit of mould inside the lens and it shames me to say I took two screws out of some ring thing at the base to see iof I could get it out. Simple logic, ooooh soooo simple. I'm about to get a quote on repair if possible. (The lens is sealed apparently).
