Greetings Huw. I had on my 77mm circ. polarizer in hopes to capture some of the fall colors. It also did a good job of slowing down the shutter. The smaller aperture had alot to do with it as well. I also agree with the comment above from Chris that I could have cropped in a bit tighter and eliminated more of the forest. I shall indeed try harder next time! Thx for the critique everyone.

A very effective shot, particularly helped with the wide lens. Were you using any particular filter here or was this shot close to day's end, given the aperture and slow shutter? Thanks Huw

Hi Darren, I find that waterfalls really present a unique opportunity for long shutter shots to create a unique image.
The most difficulty thing that I found is how to isolate the flowing water from the rather busy forest setting that usually surrounds the waterfalls. Unless you happen to be lucky enough to find a flowing stream or falls that is fairly isolated from trees, leaves, branches, etc. the water can get lost among the clutter of the forest.
I have tried to get around this be doing detail shots of just a particular area of the water, or setting the composition so as to show the water as independtly as possible.
Good luck with coming up with the 'perfect' waterfall shot,
Chris
