About	shot with the canon 300d converted to grayscale in photoshop and treated with effects and grains. I am not much of a digital black and white person, I love my film but this experiment didn't go too badly. This will be one of the exhibits at my exhibitions from december through to january

It's a real problem to show the effect of grain and othe fine-detail effects on the net because the appearance is radically altered by the re-sampling and JPEG compression. It would be helpful to post a small section of the pic at full size as well so we can see the texture more accurately and imagine the whole photo.

About this shot: the monochrome works well for this subject but I should suggest lightening the upper part using a gradient mask (which is very quick & easy in PS). Best wishes, Jonathan.

I find this interesting given your comments on using software to convert to B&W, but good to see openmindedness...anyhow, the lighting on this subject is good, and the grain works nicely. The background is subtle and lets the statue speak the loudest, I think a bit more contrast on her head/from the background would improve,
