not sure i agree with david - this is not a studio shot and doesn't look like it was intended to be. a slight lean forward would overcome the small head problem. i agree that the shirt is a bit hot.
Strangely enough, he was headed out the door - not to the grocery store, but to get a tattoo on his left forearm. I agree with all of your points - the shots were tests to get some feel for the light in the basement. I'll also add that I should use a longer lens for a shot like this ... the knees are a bit exagerated. Thanks for the feed back. :)
Make that guy put on a decent pair of shoes! It would not hurt to have him wear a darker shirt as well, since the eye will go to that white shirt first. His pose makes me feel like you grabbed him for this shot as he was heading out to the grocery store. It's technically good but I can't tell what it's about. If you're going for a portrait, try to flatter him more--dressed up, a more formal pose. A little light in the eyes would be good too. The set is excellent, and the tonal range is great--it pops.
