About	Herons elegant walking. Used zoom lens with 2 x TC. If the quality is a little poor thats the reason. I find lenses at USD 7 - 12,000 too much to spend on birds. (cropped a little)

Herons and Egrets are very shy birds. They keep a distance of at least 100 m. So even you buy a 600mm or 800mm lens you have to use a TC. The quality of the picture will be better than using a zoom lens. But again for amateur, it's too expensive.

very nice shot, I have to agree with you about the lens prices, you can get some pretty good shots with the 300mm though, By the way these are Great Egrets.... well done....
