I really miss seeing stuff like this...I grew up not far from there in Amherst Mass. ...it doesn't get cold enough around where I live now most of the time...and there are no good woods around here either (
I always loved the crackling crunching sound that the hollow spots in the ice make when you step on them. I also seem to remember throwing shards of ice at the white spots and having them stick up if the hit right and sliced their way into the hollow...
