About At least 33,000 people were killed - mostly from sea surges triggered by the worst earthquake in 40 years.

Thousands are missing, millions are homeless, and the disaster zone is now threatened with outbreaks of disease.

At least 10 countries have been affected, with Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and my home country Indonesia among the worst hit.
Indonesia's President has declared three days of national mourning.

I can only grieve and send lots of prayers for all people not only in Indonesia, but also Srilanka, India, Thailand.

Stunning macro photograph Cessy, the florals detail is beautifully illuminated.

What a sad tragedy it really is and as the days go on it seems so much worse looking at the news :-(

All our thoughts are across all three continents at this time.

I'm sure we share your feelings of horror and sorrow at one of the worst disasters in human history. But your picture shows a ray of hope. There are survivors and, in time, they will again experience joys and pleasures. We need to be reminded of that in this time of incomprehensible tragedy.

Thank you Deb, some of my friends not only from Indonesia but also from Srilanka, that their families were safed by climbing the roof top of theirs houses, or just by incident being in another city (for christmas holiday), now they don't have anything as almost everyting is gone. they survived yet still long to get through this tragedy.

Thank you also Saeed for the thought. The numbers of victims are growing and growing, some friends of mine whose family there will try to take a flight to go to the area to find out whether their families are still alive or not, because there is almost no available communication as the city was washed out.
so sad.

Thank you Dorothy, I am quite far, and luckyly no immediate familly was affected. However these days, we have been exchanging news between family and friends, some of my friends have families in the most disasterous areas. only by miracle they are still alive, many still don't know the news.
thank you, cessy

Lovely photo, Cessy, and lovely sentiment, too. It's hard to imagine the magnitude of such a disaster, or what the survivors are going through now.
