Recently some idiot from Hong Kong published a book about Chinese discovery of the world in the 14th Century A.D. He said that these bolders were used to raise the sails on giant Junks. The small boulders are supposed to be cannon balls. These boulders and other cncretions are found from Shag Point in the South to Hampden Beach in the North and up to 10 kilometers inland. I have a friend in the Dunedin Photographic Society who has been photographing these for a few years now. I'm sure he knows them all by name.
I like your angle of view Jody and the light. Regards John

Great shot. Love the sky in the background. The boulders are surrounded in mystery - only being on that one small part of the beach. Nice photo. Greg
