Built in 1902, it replaced the previous 2 club houses that were both destroyed by fire. They were replaced by this a concrete and masonry club house. It is claimed to be the first concrete building in the world. The original Detroit Boat Club was created in 1839. I can only imagine what an experience this must have been like to walk down the red carpet of this bridge under the blue canopy to an exclusive event during the prime of this buildings existence. The red carpet is gone, the canopy has disappeared. This is just a different perspective of my previous post, but I think of it as the first page of the book and not the cover.
