About A window in a museum (Scaliger Castle), Malcesine. I have to admit, the view was more attracting than those stuffed animals... A lot of dodging and burning due to the wide dynamic range (at least four stops). Had to combine five different images developed selectively for inside/ outside, glass reflections etc.

The finished result was definately worth all that doging and burning.
I really like the idea of using the window to 'frame' the scene.

Thilo, thanks for detailed comment. You are right, DOF was not perfect. I missed to fix that (a slight tweak is possible with FocusMagic, very nice piece of software).

Hi Carsten,

I see a lot of work here ;-)

great idea with the window as a natural framing. I'm wondering if the levels of sharpness work together.... the landscape looks a bit too bold for me. anway, awesome work... you must be a cracy guy to do even the reflections ;-)

good work!

best wishes,

thilo

Terrific! You are tireless my friend. A technical wonder. This reminds me of one I did out of a portal on the Queen Mary in Long Beach harbor. I recall the challenges of the different lighting, which I also solved by combining images. It doesn't compare to your results, but I only used two with lots of adjustments on both. It's worth it. :) Antonia

wow, I love this. The soft warm feeling from inside and the great view on the mountains outside. Really a nice composition. I can imaging that must have been quite a task to get right, there are so many differen areas and edgest to watch out for. Excelent job. I wish the light outside was a little more interesting, but there is nothing you can do on an overcast day. One thing that looks odd to me is the water. It seems to repeat itself vertically and does not show any soft of reflection of the mountain in any way.

One thing that might be worth to try (and this is really just playing round) is to select the window/forground and lens-blur it out of focus. Right now the forgrounds seems to be slightly out of focus bit only a little. I have the feeling it is just soft while the background is razor sharp. (Does that make any sense to you?)

Again, please don't get me wrong, I really like the photo, it has a very good atmosphere and great composition and dynamic range.

Terrific work again! The reflections on the glass panels are great. The softness surrounding the window is in wonderful contrast to the sharp middle of the shot. Love it!
Best Wishes

Frohe Ostern!

Very good indeed. I think that you have really achieved maximum dynamic range with realistic result. This shows your excellent digital darkroom talent and patience.

Well done.
